And now, in today’s wholesome celebrity news: Did Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail secretly get married while we were all too distracted to notice?! The lovebird fiancés announced they were engaged and expecting a child last year, and a source has now confirmed that the couple secretly said I do. Congratulations!

Director Kail and actress and activist Williams confirmed their engagement (and Williams’ pregnancy) in December. Now, leaked photos to the Daily Mail of Kail wearing a band on his wedding finger sparked marriage rumors, and a source has confirmed to Us Weekly that the pair are now married.

Getting hitched in secret isn’t at all out of character for this couple, who kept their engagement largely out of the spotlight too. Williams has been private about her love life since late partner Heath Ledger passed away in 2008. She’s seen been married once, to singer Phil Elverum, but they split after less than a year.

While these are scary times in which to be starting a family together, we couldn’t be happier that that Williams and Kail have found each other and decided to make a commitment. Sometimes, there’s nothing like a global crisis to make you realize what really matters and hold your loved ones extra close. Here’s hoping that their secret ceremony was absolutely everything they’d dreamed of — and that they were able to pull it off before the social distancing mandate came down.

As for a honeymoon? It’ll have to be a staycation for now.
