Did you catch these 'Star Trek' Easter eggs in the new 'Picard' Season 2 trailer?
Star Trek: Picard dropped a new trailer last week for the show's much-anticipated new season on Paramount+, and fans have been on the verge of obsessive behavior trying to parse out what's in store for Jean-Luc Picard's latest adventure in the Final Frontier.
It looks like the retired Admiral, who cheated death last season by dying but being uploaded into a new advanced synthetic body, is using his second chance at life to reunion tour with some Star Trek: The Next Generation favorites — Q (John de Lancie) and Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) — as the former seems to be sending Picard once again on a trip through time. In the new trailer, Picard and his shipmates aboard the La Sirena are seemingly forced to go back in time to 21st Century Los Angeles and, in doing so, arrive in 2024 to find yet another alternate timeline that seems to have ties to the Vulcans first contact with the human race, as well as the Borg Queen.
In scrutinizing the new trailer, here are some deep-ish cuts and Easter eggs to Trek's past that we found.
Slingshot Around the Sun

Picard and his crew's method for traveling back in time appears to be taking a page from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home's playbook, by having the La Sirena slingshot around the sun on course for Earth 2024. The stolen Klingon Bird-of-Prey that Kirk used to travel back in time to 1986 to acquire two humpback whales made the trip using the same means. (Here's hoping La Sirena's computations for time travel were as strong as Spock's.)
Some Familiar Starships
Pursuing the La Sirena after her trip through time are two classes of starship that fans haven't seen in some time: A Nova-class and a Steamrunner-class can be seen firing weapons on Picard's vessel.

The Nova-class ship (left) is the same design as Captain Ransom's Equinox from the popular Star Trek: Voyager Season 5 finale two-parter, "Equinox." As for the Steamrunner-class vessel on the port side of the La Sirena above, that class of starship made their first appearance in 1996's Star Trek: First Contact, another time-traveling big-screen adventure with Picard.
Welcome Back, Guinan
While Whoopi Goldberg's return to Trek is not an Easter egg, some fans have taken to making a connection between this official still from Picard Season 2...

...and this one from 1994's Star Trek: Generations. (Clearly, this is just a happy accident. But our supreme Trekdom can't let such a coincidence go unnoticed.)

We've Seen This Alley Before

Picard beams down to a city street in a manor that seemingly echoes Kirk and Spock's trip through time via the Guardian of Forever in the classic Original Series episode, "The City on the Edge of Forever".
The same poster promoting a boxing match that appears behind them was also on the brick wall of the alley in "City" and in the Deep Space Nine Season 3 two-parter, "Past Tense".

Also, eagle-eyed viewers will notice the the license plate on the vehicle parked curbside next to Jean-Luc reads "S02 E01," which stands for "Season 2, Episode 1" for Picard. Fans can see how this scene all plays out in the premiere episode.
Star Trek III Callback
In 1984's Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, a bar that Dr. McCoy visits boasts a neon sign for Arcanis Lager. Look what might be on tap at Guinan's new bar:
