Devon Gales continues to progress, plays catch for first time since spinal injury (Video)

Devon Gales continues to progress in his recovery from a severe spinal injury.

The former Southern wide receiver fractured a vertebra while covering a kickoff against Georgia in 2015 and was paralyzed. Since then, he has continued to make inspiring improvements in his quality of life. In May, he posted a video of himself walking. On Monday, Gales showed he is now able to have a catch.

Gales’ positive attitude — and his relationship with the University of Georgia — has been awesome to watch since his injury. Gales was injured when he collided with UGA kicker Marshall Morgan in a game at Sanford Stadium on Sept. 26, 2015. In March, Gales and his family attended Morgan’s wedding.

On top of that, Georgia launched a house-building campaign for the Gales family back in February.

“Basically this is just a temporary setback,” Gales said last year. “But it’s not a setback, it’s another blessing. I know I’m going to walk out. I know I’m going to have a testimony that I will speak on.”
