Devin McCourty guest speaker for Central Mass High School Sports Awards
The Worcester Telegram & Gazette is proud to announce Devin McCourty as the special guest speaker at the 2023 Central Mass High School Sports Awards, presented by DCU-Digital Federal Credit Union, on Wednesday, June 28 at the Hanover Theatre. Doors open at 6.
More than 200 high school athletes from across the Central Mass area will be honored. The show will also name players of the year for 31 sports and include several major awards, including overall Players of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year and a Courage Award.
“I am thrilled to host the Central Mass High School Sports Awards and celebrate these outstanding student athletes,” said McCourty, who retired this offseason after 13 years with the New England Patriots. “These kids have worked hard to get where they are today, and I am honored to help recognize their dedication and diligence.”

McCourty was a safety for 13 seasons with the Patriots. He played college football for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
As a Patriot, McCourty won three Super Bowls, was a 3-time All-Pro, a 2-time Pro Bowler, and holds the record for most postseason starts by a defensive player in league history.
He retired at the end of the 2022 season and has already been a regular guest on NFL Network's “Good Morning Football”, ESPN's “First Take,” and “Get Up.”
