Lisa Marie Presley 'inconsolable' after son Benjamin Keough's death at 27: Details on their close bond

Lisa Marie Presley’s 27-year-old son Benjamin Keough died on Sunday according to one of her representatives. "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated, but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,” Lisa Marie Presley's manager Roger Widynowski tells Yahoo Entertainment. “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."

The son of Presley and her first husband, musician Danny Keough, kept a low public profile despite his famous family. What he was most known for, however, was resembling his late maternal grandfather Elvis Presley after fans widely responded to the look alike in his mother’s music video for “I Love You Because.”

Lisa spoke to CMT about the uncanny resemblance between Benjamin and Elvis back in 2012 after releasing the music video, which had never-before-seen pictures of her children. “They’ve all got a little bit of [Elvis] in them. They all have their own little traits, and I can just sense it,” she told the publication. Benjamin, however, was the one with the strikingly familiar look.

“[Benjamin] was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage!” she explained. “Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny. Sometimes I am overwhelmed when I look at him.”

Lisa shared a throwback photo from that time at the Opry on her Instagram in June 2018, where his resemblance to The King is clear.

The resemblance between the two became a topic of conversation during Lisa’s 2013 appearance on The Talk during which she spoke about growing up as the daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley and raising her own four children — Benjamin; Riley Keough, 31; and twin girls Finley and Harper, 11, who she shares with ex-husband Michael Lockwood. She even touched on Benjamin’s love for music and her decision to not push him into the industry.

“He loves music but that’s a lot to put on him, so I’m trying to let him do his thing without pushing that on him so much because I want to feel, I know it’s gonna be hard, but... he needs to come to something on his own,” Lisa shared about Benjamin. “He’s very proud, so when he does something he wants it to be really good.”

Lisa also revealed on Twitter in 2012 that she shared a tattoo with her only son — a Celtic eternity knot that they had gotten on Mother’s Day three years prior.

The singer’s song Storm & Grace, also released in 2012, was said to have been inspired by her son, whose middle name is Storm. Lisa shared a photo of her and Benjamin filming for a segment of Good Morning America for the song’s release.

Although Benjamin had yet to start a career in music, his older sister, Riley, has established herself as an actress known for her roles in independent films. Despite living a life in the public eye and having public social media profiles, Benjamin didn’t make many appearances on her feed, other than the occasional birthday post.

He also made few public appearances at Graceland vigils for the anniversaries of his grandfather Elvis’s death.

The last photo of Benjamin on social media is one shared by Lisa on June 20, 2019 of her and her four children. “Mama Lion with cubs,” she wrote.
