New details on Kroger Marketplace going up in north Fort Worth, not far from H-E-B

We are learning more details about the new Kroger Marketplace going up on Bonds Ranch Road at U.S. 287 in far north Fort Worth.

Records filed with the state this week say construction will begin in November, which is a little later than Kroger told the Star-Telegram in March. The store will be complete in mid-July 2024.

The Kroger Marketplace will be 124,882 square feet and cost $10 million to build, according to records.

The site is about 3 miles from where an H-E-B in Alliance is being built. Another new H-E-B in Fort Worth also appears to be planned for southwest Fort Worth along Chisholm Trail Parkway.

Kroger Marketplace differs from the traditional store format in that it is designed to give customers a “one-stop shopping” experience.

Kroger Marketplace locations range from 100,000 to 130,000 square feet, about three-quarters of the size of a Walmart Supercenter, and they feature everything from produce to kitchen appliances to home goods to clothing to jewelry.

This store, along with two more coming in Plano and Melissa, will be the first new-build Krogers in North Texas since it opened a McKinney location on North Lake Forest Drive in 2019.

Kroger has more than 100 locations in North and East Texas, making up about half of the grocer’s 200 locations across the state. The chain has operated out of North Texas for more than 65 years.
