Despite Losing The Beef Against Kendrick Lamar, Drake Comes Out On Top In A Big Way

On Thursday, the 2024 BET Award nominations were released. And despite being on the losing end of the rap beef against Kendrick Lamar, Drake came out on top, leading the pack with seven nominations.

Those include: Album of the Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Viewer’s Choice, and twice for Video of the Year.

And because we like to celebrate everything and everybody Black around here, let’s get into some of the highlights of the rest of the nominees...

Album of the Year

In addition to Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2,” nominees for Album of the Year include: “11:11 “ by Chris Brown, “A Gift & A Curse” by Gunna, “American Dream” by 21 Savage, “Coming Home” by Usher, “For All The Dogs (Scary Hours Edition)“ by Drake, “Jaguar II” by Victoria Monét, and “Michael” by Killer Mike.

Best Male Hip-Hop Artist

Best Female Hip-Hop Artist

In addition to Megan Thee Stallion, nominees for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist include: Cardi B, Doja Cat, Glorilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Nicki Minaj and Sexyy Red.

Best Male R&B/Pop Artist

Other than Usher, nominees for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist include: Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Drake, Fridayy, and October London.

Best Female R&B/Pop Artist

Aside from Beyoncé, nominees for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist include: Coco Jones, Doja Cat, H.E.R., Muni Long, SZA, Tyla, and Victoria Monét.
