Watson decided to donate his first NFL game check to three workers at the NRG Stadium cafeteria who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The Texans’ training facilities are at the stadium.
The workers were understandably emotional after Watson gave them checks.

That’s a great moment. Watson, a first-round pick, has a base salary of $465,000, and 1/17th of that is about $27,000.
Hurricanes in Texas and Florida over the past few weeks were devastating, but the recovery efforts have brought out the best in people. Texans defensive end J.J. Watt’s fundraising efforts got the most attention, but many athletes and citizens not in the spotlight have donated their time and money to those who needed it.
Watson’s career is off to a good start. The Texans won in his first start and Watson played very well at the New England Patriots on Sunday in his second start. If he keeps this up he’ll be a big deal in Houston, on and off the field.
