Desert Daze is cancelled for this year. Here's what festival organizers are doing instead

Desert Daze won't be returning until next year, musical festival organizers announced on Thursday.

The festival would have been celebrating its 11th anniversary this fall. Originally held in Desert Hot Springs, it has grown to draw about 10,000 attendees at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area to listen to rock, pop, rap, R&B and electronic music.

The festival is expected to return to Lake Perris Oct. 10-13, 2024. Organizers say they are already working on next year's event.

"We'll be taking the extra time to ensure we deliver an experience that surpasses expectations for many years to come," Desert Daze said in an Instagram post.

People who purchased pre-sale tickets for 2023 should check their emails to learn how to roll them over to 2024 or get a refund, Desert Daze said. Those with questions can email info@desertdaze.org.

Desert Daze is presenting an event called "Daze in the City" from October 10 to 15 this year. It'll feature artists performing in Los Angeles, Pomona, Riverside, Long Beach and Santa Ana, according to its website.

But there are still performances for fans to enjoy this fall.

Festival organizers announced that Desert Daze is hosting "a different one-off experience" called Daze in the City from Oct. 10-15. The event, described as a "concert odyssey" on Desert Daze's website, will feature music and visual artists in venues throughout Southern California cities like Riverside, Los Angeles, Pomona and Long Beach.

Daze in the City is meant to pay homage to the first Desert Daze that lasted 11 days, according to the website.

Some of the artists performing include Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Melody's Echo Chamber, The Black Angels, The Dandy Warhols, Blonde Redhead and others. A flyer for the event states the full lineup and visual artists are to be announced.
