Descendants of the Sun Reunion: Kim Ji-Won, Song Joong-Ki in tvN K-Drama Queen of Tears

Starring Kim Ji-Won and Kim Soo Hyun, tvN’s latest K-drama Queen of Tears will see a cameo by popular South Korean actor Song Joong-Ki. Park Ji-Eun, known for writing hit dramas like Crash Landing on You and My Love from the Star, penned the drama. Kim Hee-Won and Jang Young-Woo direct the K-drama.

Queen of Tears follows a humorous and thrilling love story of a married couple who stay together despite struggle. However, what leads them to choose to divorce?

Kim Soo-Hyun will be seen as Baek Hyeon-Woo, the legal director of the Queens Group and the husband in the drama. Meanwhile, Kim Ji-Won will play the wife’s character, Hong Hae-In, who is the chaebol heiress of the Queens Group.

Queen of Tears: Song Joong-Ki & Kim Ji-Won’s bond from the Descendants of the Sun

As per Xsportsnews, Song Joong-Ki has recently finished filming his part for Queen of Tears. However, his role has yet to be announced by the makers. Interestingly, it has been reported that Song Joong-Ki’s special appearance happened due to his connection with Kim Ji-Won.

The duo had earlier worked together in the Descendants of the Sun. Song Joong-Ki is the founding member and actor of the entertainment agency HighZium Studio. Kim Ji-Won is also signed under the same label.

While filming for Descendants of the Sun, Joong-Ki and Kim Ji-Won reportedly formed a great bond that extended to their real life. Now, the popular Korean actor is showing his loyalty to their friendship by joining the cast of Queen of Tears. Apart from his connection with Kim Ji-Won, Song Joong-Ki has also worked with Kim Soo-Hyun earlier. They worked together in the 2009 drama Will It Snow for Christmas?

As Song Joong-Ki joins the cast, it remains to be seen what role the actor will play in Queen of Tears. The K-drama is set to release on Netflix on March 9, 2024, at 9:20 p.m. KST.
