“We are profoundly touched by the outpouring of support and prayers from each of you,” Hough wrote on Instagram.

Derek Hough has shared a promising update about his wife Hayley Erbert’s health.

The dancer revealed that Erbert’s cranioplasty surgery was “successfully completed as planned.”

“My sincere appreciation goes to the exceptional medical team,” Hough wrote on Instagram. “Their expertise and steady hands were pivotal in this journey, ensuring a smooth and successful surgery. Especially Dr. Mai who not only performed the surgery but was also the one who saved her life 2 weeks ago.”

Erbert was diagnosed with an intracranial hematoma (a collection of blood in her skull) earlier this month, and underwent an emergency craniectomy after becoming disoriented following a performance in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 6. That procedure removed part of her skull to relieve pressure on the brain, and the cranioplasty surgery replaced the removed section.

“We are profoundly touched by the outpouring of support and prayers from each of you,” Hough continued. “Your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy have been a source of strength and comfort for us during this challenging time. It’s truly heartwarming to know how much love and care surrounds us.”

Hough went on to say that he and Erbert are hopeful for the future. “This surgery marks a significant milestone in my wife’s recovery journey, and your support has played a crucial role in getting us here. We are filled with hope and optimism for the future, knowing she is on the path to a full recovery, surrounded by such a loving community.”

Hough and Erbert first crossed paths in 2013 when she boarded the So You Think You Can Dance tour, but they didn’t become romantically involved until she joined him on Dancing With the Stars years later. After eight years of dating, the couple got engaged last year and married in August. They then hit the road on their Symphony of Dance tour in September, though the remaining dates have been postponed to accommodate for Erbert’s recovery.
