Denise Brown, Nicole Brown Simpson's sister, signs true crime series deal with NBC
Denise Brown, sister of Nicole Brown Simpson, has signed a deal with NBC News’ Peacock Productions to develop a new true crime series.
“Peacock Productions' expertise in the true-crime narrative and unscripted programming is unparalleled,” Brown said in a statement. “I am excited to begin working with Peacock and tell the stories of lives that have forever been changed by the criminal justice system.”
The untitled series will find Brown working alongside a team of experts to "investigate cases where justice has been called into question," Peacock said.
"Denise has experienced first-hand the complexities of the criminal justice system," said Melody Shafir, vice president of development for Peacock, referring to O. J. Simpson's trial for the murder of Brown's sister Nicole and Ron Goldman. "She testified on behalf of her sister during one of the most high-profile murder trials in recent history and will draw on that experience throughout the series, with a deep understanding of the impact the system can have on the victim's family."
Brown was recently portrayed by Jordana Brewster in American Crime Story: The People V. OJ Simpson, Ryan Murphy's miniseries on FX.
Brown has actively raised awareness of domestic violence since the trial ended in 1995. Peacock said she travels the country to speak on the issue and founded The Elite Speakers Bureau, a program that provides education on abuse, school and workplace safety, and mental health.
