My Demon Episode 13: Song Kang & Kim Yoo-Jung face harsh truths

The latest episode of My Demon begins with Madam Ju’s confession about witnessing the devil. She noted how the devil itself possessed her, and even after multiple warnings about making her wrongdoings public, she never stopped. Meanwhile, Gu-Won and Do-Hee spend time with each other after the performance. Do-Hee discovers the demon’s human life as Seo Yi-Sun and that he’d killed himself. She embraces the demon, feeling sorry for his past life. The happy couple looks at fireflies, with Gu-Won hoping for happiness.

The following day, Gu-Won visits God and indirectly asks for advice so that he doesn’t repeat his unfortunate past deeds with Do-Hee. God explains, saying, “Happiness has no meaning without misfortune. Humans wouldn’t appreciate happiness if they had it all the time.” Gu-Won believes that misfortune is useless and that human lives are too short even for happiness. After he leaves, God reflects on how happiness can be poisonous, indicating an impending danger.

While going to work, Do-Hee and Gu-Won plan their Christmas celebrations. However, seeing a road accident reminds Do-Hee of her parents’ accident. She retreats into a shell while Gu-Won asks her only ally, Joo Seok-Hoon, for advice on how to make Do-Hee happy. Seok-Hoon explains that she feels guilty about being happy, considering her parents left her during the happiest days of her childhood. Now that Madam Ju is gone, it has made it worse for her.

Meanwhile, Do-Hee and her team decided to collaborate with Sunwol Theater for an upcoming promotional event. Gu-Won agrees to the proposal. On the other hand, Noh Suk-Min’s wife takes a few pills, reflecting on the final conversation with her son Do-Gyeong before he allegedly killed himself. At night, Do-Hee dreams of not being able to find her parents. So Gu-Won enters her dream, making her meet her parents and Madam Ju.

The following morning, the couple spends a few romantic moments before heading off to work. Jin Ga-Yeong meets Gu-Won, and the duo resolves their misunderstandings. Ga-Yeong has made up her mind to go abroad. Meanwhile, Gu-Won decides to buy flowers for Do-Hee when he starts combusting. He makes a deal and reveals his identity to the Wild Dogs group.

Gu-Won then brings Do-Hee a bouquet of flowers that signify happiness. The two confess their love for each other. Meanwhile, Suk-Min invites the entire family for dinner. At night, he witnesses his wife opening up his safe and eventually discovering the demon handbook. He discovers that his wife knows everything. Suk-Min eventually asks everyone to transfer their shares to him at dinner, but everyone denies it, including Do-Hee.

The following day, Suk-Min takes quick calls to eliminate the compensation committee and terminate significant full-time workers’ contracts. When Seok-Hoon warned him against it, threatening to make it all public, Suk-Min moved forward with the motion to dismiss him. Seok-Hoon informs Do-Hee of the same, who arrives furious at Suk-Min.

Meanwhile, the Gu-Won enters the hospital where Suk-Min’s wife is held captive. He understands that she knows of his identity and gives her a chance to escape hell if she reveals the truth. Eventually, she reveals that Suk-Min killed both Madam Ju and Do-Gyeong.

Do-Hee confronts Suk-Min over his actions. He eventually tells her that he’s breaking out of the egg and leaving the world his mother, Madam Ju, created for her. Do-Hee quickly discovers the meaning of Abraxas, as quoted by German-Swiss poet and novelist Hermann Hesse, “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God’s name is Abraxas.”

She understands that Suk-Min is Abraxas, who communicated with the attacker. Do-Hee realizes that Suk-Min killed Madam Ju and Do-Gyeong. Suk-Min, however, reveals that Madam Ju isn’t an honest person Do-Hee idolizes. He further reveals that Madam Ju killed her parents, proving that with an audio of their argument in the past that led to the accident. Do-Hee fails to believe him. The episode ends with Suk-Min strangling her.
