A Hot New Memoir

Demi Moore has been making waves with her new memoir, Inside Out. The book has shot to the top of the bestsellers list and recounts her relationships, her career, and her difficult childhood.

She also opened up about her struggles with addiction and substance abuse, and how she nearly died after an overdose.

Her Lowest Point

After once instance of using synthetic pot and nitrous oxide, Moore had a seizure and nearly died.

"Everyone was witnessing my body flaying. My daughter [Rumer] was terrified she was gonna see me die right in front of her. Within me I was in a place thinking wow how did I get in here? This is interesting. My very next thought was 'Oh I wonder if I could get out.'"

Making A Change

The incident was so terrifying that it scared Moore into changing her life.

"All of a sudden I was back in my body, it was a moment that I was somehow being given a choice. I think emotionally it was [that close]. Something had to give. You either go in or out."

Following the close call, Moore received medical care and quit using. In her memoir, she explains that incidents like this just made her stronger.

"I've had extraordinary luck in this life: both bad and good ... but we all suffer, and we all triumph, and we all get to choose how we hold both."
