Demi Moore to Host amfAR’s 30th Cannes Gala

The 30th edition of amfAR’s Cannes gala now has a host: Demi Moore.

The actress has been tapped for an official role at the glitzy event, which will take place at the end of this year’s Cannes Film Festival on May 23. She will be joined at the gala by Cher, who is confirmed to take the stage as the night’s musical headliner. It marks a reunion for the organization and the two stars as Cher and Moore were part of the event’s early success, attending and chairing Cannes’ amfAR galas in 1996 and 1997, respectively.

“We are excited and grateful to have Demi Moore back with amfAR in Cannes. She joined us at the gala in 1997, helping to raise critical funds for AIDS research, and she has been a loyal supporter ever since,” said amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost.

The exclusive black-tie event, which has raised $264 million for amfAR’s programs since its inception, will take place at the famed Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc and will feature additional special performances and a live auction of luxury goods, experiences and art led by auctioneer Simon de Pury. Longtime amfAR supporter Carine Roitfeld will once again curate a fashion show featuring ensembles from top designers. Presenting sponsors include Chopard and the Red Sea International Film Festival with signature sponsors Homolog and DraftKings and additional support provided by Gérard Bertrand, Piper-Heidsieck and Rumor Rosé.

It’s shaping up to be a busy Cannes for Moore, who has a film selected for the festival competition with Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance co-starring Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid. Coming off a starring role in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, Moore will soon be seen Paramount+’s upcoming drama Landman from Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace opposite Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton.

The 77th Cannes Film Festival opens May 14 and continues through May 25.
