Demi Lovato wants the future now, and we’re not talking about the name of her latest tour. The singer announced she’s looking forward to the new year as she wants to take a step back from the Hollywood limelight.

“So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media,” Lovato, 24, tweeted Tuesday, hours after the release of her candid Glamour November cover story.

Fans were shocked to learn about Lovato’s surprising revelation with one follower asking the former Disney Channel star: “But are you coming back??”

And Demi’s response wasn’t so reassuring. “Dunno. It doesn’t feel worth it anymore. I’d rather do charity work [to be honest],” she tweeted.

Back in June, the pop star informed her fans that she quit Instagram and Twitter, only to return to the apps less than 24 hours. Around the time of her temporary social media detox, it had not been long after she confirmed her split from longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

“This hasn’t been an easy year for Demi,” an insider told PEOPLE shortly after the breakup, but “she’s making sure to surround herself with family and friends.”

However, there’s a bit of hope for a few lucky Lovatics. The “Stone Cold” singer is still scheduled to complete the international leg of the Future Now tour as sole headliner and without Nick Jonas, whom she’d co-headlined the U.S. tour with. Her final concert date is slated for Feb. 3, 2017 in Dubai as part of RedfestDSB.
