Demi Lovato’s latest single is called “Commander in Chief,” and, as the title suggests, it’s about President Donald Trump. The anthemic pop song repeatedly criticizes the president. “Commander in chief, honestly/if I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep,” she sings. Later, she adds, “We’ll be in the streets while you’re bunkerin’ down.” The song is produced by FINNEAS and co-written by Demi Lovato, Julia Michaels, FINNEAS, Justin Tranter, and Eren Cannata. “Please join me and vote in this year’s election,” Lovato wrote in a statement to her fans, pointing to I Will Vote’s website. Lovato isn’t the only musician urging fans to vote this year: Read Pitchfork’s feature “33 Musicians On Why They’re Voting in the 2020 Election.”
