Demi Lovato Returns to VMAs With Rock Versions of Her Biggest Hits — Watch

Following a six year absence from the stage, Demi Lovato rocked the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday with a fresh take on some of her biggest hits.

“I’m going to be singing a medley of some of my biggest songs,” Lovato teased on the pink carpet earlier in the night. “It’s promoting my album that’s coming out Friday called Revamped, where I took my older hits and turned them into rock songs.”

Prior to Tuesday’s show, Lovato had one VMA to her name — the Best Video With a Message award for “Skyscraper” in 2012. This year, her single “Swine” was nominated for both Best Pop Video and Video for Good.

Of course, Lovato’s return to the VMAs was just one major moment from Tuesday’s ceremony, which also featured highly anticipated performances from Anitta, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, DMC, Doja Cat, Doug E. Fresh, Fall Out Boy, Future, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, Måneskin, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Peso Pluma, Shakira, Stray Kids, and Tomorrow X Together.

Hosted by Minaj, this year’s VMAs were broadcast live from Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center. While Swift led the ceremony with 11 nominations, SZA followed in second with six nods, plus five for Minaj, Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus and Sam Smith.
