The signer appeared on 'The Jennifer Hudson Show' on Thursday and raved about her romance with fellow musician, Jutes

Demi Lovato was hands-on when it came to her boyfriend Jutes' latest tattoo — literally!

The "Confident" singer, 31, stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show on Thursday where they opened up about how she "assisted" in giving her musician beau some ink.

"So my boyfriend was on tour with me, visiting and we had a tattoo artist there and he wanted to get a tattoo of a song title of mine called 'Forever for Me,' which is a song I wrote about him," said Lovato. "And while he was getting tattooed, he was like, 'I want you to do it.' "

That was a question Lovato didn't expect to hear. "I was like, 'What?' " they recalled.

The star then told Hudson, 42, that they reluctantly agree. "I assisted, I wouldn't say that I gave the full tattoo, otherwise that would have looked really bad," she said with a laugh. "But I did a good portion of it and it turned out OK."

In a picture shown on the show, Lovato wore green latex gloves as she held the tattoo needle by Jutes’ leg.

Asked by Hudson if the EGOT winner could tattoo her, Lovato said, “If you can do tattoos yes, let’s do it!"

“I can’t,” Hudson jokingly admitted. “I thought I’d ask. I tried it.”

Lovato and Jutes, whose real name is Jordan Lutes, have been dating for over a year, PEOPLE revealing news of their relationships exclusively in August 2022. "It's a really happy and healthy relationship. He's a super great guy,” the insider said at the time.

The pair met, Lovato told Hudson on Thursday's episode of her syndicated talk show, while in the studio. At the time, Lovato was working on her 2022 album HOLY FVCK.

"He actually helped co-write one of my singles, 'Substance,' and a few songs on my last album," they said. "We worked really well together and we are also just super in love, so I'm very happy with him."

“It’s amazing to be able to find someone that you just laugh and laugh and with and that you get to make music with,” Lovato added. "It's so special, so, I'm very happy."

Last September, Lovato appeared on the PodcastOne podcast LadyGang and admitted to being “nervous” when they first met Jutes.

“The way that I met my boyfriend was actually in a session,” she said on the podcast. “He is a musician himself, but he also co-writes on other people’s music. So he came into the session and I literally was like, ‘Who is this guy?’”

“I texted my friends and was like, ‘Oh my God, the hottest guy just walked In. I am so nervous. I don’t know what to do with myself,” Lovato added before explaining that they “were friends for a while” before anything romantic due to him being “just so focused on the music.”

The Jennifer Hudson Show airs weekdays in syndication (check local listings).
