Demi Lovato Postpones London Concert Due to Illness

Demi Lovato is proving once again that sometimes, you have to prioritize your health first.

The singer-songwriter took to Instagarm earlier today, June 10, to tell fans that she has to sadly postpone her London concert that was scheduled for later tonight. The note, which Demi says she wrote "through tears of sadness and frustration," explained that she's been "very, very sick" with swollen vocal chords. "If I go on tonight and injure my vocal chords any more, I could potentially have to cancel the rest of my tour," Demi added, noting that she consulted with an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) specialist about her symptoms.

She went on to apologize to her fans. "I am so, so, so sorry to disappoint any of my fans in London that have traveled hours to be here by plane or car, and to all of the fans that got these tickets for their birthday, holiday, or any other special occasion," Demi said. "It breaks my heart to let you down." The pop star ended her note by telling her followers that the concert has been rescheduled for June 25, writing: "Thank you for understanding. I love you."

Luckily, the majority of Demi's fans have been super-supportive of the singer's decision to postpone her show. "Get well soon honey that's what matters," one Instagram user wrote, adding: "We care about you more than the show." Another replied to say: "We are with you and your health comes first. We love you."

Demi also took to her Instagram stories to talk more about the situation, and you can hear from her video that her voice is indeed extremely raspy. "I can't do the show tonight because I have no voice," she says in the clip. "I'm very upset and really sad to let my fans down.... But I really can't go on, and I'm really sorry. We are rescheduling the show, I'm just very very sick right now, and hopefully I'll be able to perform at the O2 again very soon."

As an outspoken advocate for self-care, it's not surprising to see Demi take the necessary steps to focus on her health. Sometimes, you have to put other things on hold (like work, school, or social commitments) in order to replenish your strength and feel your best. Here's hoping that Demi is on the mend soon, and that she's back to feeling like herself in no time at all.
