Demi Lovato is closer to God after getting baptized in Israel, saying it's filled "the God-sized hole in my heart."
Revealing the emotional moment that took place in the Jordan River, Lovato shared several photos from her time in the Holy Land with a powerful message on Tuesday.
"I am an American singer. I was raised Christian and have Jewish ancestors. When I was offered an amazing opportunity to visit the places I’d read about in the Bible growing up, I said yes," the singer wrote.
Lovato explained the magic she felt during her trip, stating, "I’ve never felt such a sense of spirituality or connection to God…something I’ve been missing for a few years now."
She added, "I’ve never felt more renewed in my life."
In the photo, a makeup free Lovato is waist deep in the holy water. She looks completely at peace and reborn.
"This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul," she said.
Showing herself at landmarks like the Western Wall and Yad Vashem Holocaust Center, Lovato added, "I’m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart."
As The Blast reported, she was rushed to the hospital from her Hollywood Hills home and remained there for nearly two weeks. She later entered rehab where she stayed for three months.
Lovato celebrated her sobriety with friends in July on the one-year anniversary of her overdose.
