Although there's no official word on how the two met, there is a strong theory suggesting that it was all because of a friend the two had in common. Both of them knew Thomas Trussell III, who died from an overdose in October of this year. When he died, both Lovato and Wilson posted tributes to his memory. Lovato even got a tattoo to remember him.

Lovato has been open with fans about her own struggles with addiction and posted about how important it is to seek help.

As horrible as these tragedies can be, they can also lead to new connections, so it would make sense if Lovato and Wilson met and connected in the aftermath of Trussell's death. Of course, the couple may have known each other for years before becoming connected romantically.

The two went public with their relationship in November of 2019 via Instagram with a black and white photo of her giving him a kiss. She captioned it with a simple "my ❤️."

Wilson also made the relationship official on Instagram. The two had quite a bit in common, including plenty of tattoos and previous struggles with addiction.

Both Wilson and Lovato were used to life in the spotlight, but they did try to keep aspects of their relationship private. After their split, Lovato said that she would be focusing on herself in the coming year. She also got a new tattoo that said "rebirth" as a signal for what her next chapter might be.

According to reporting in People, once source said that "she’s concentrating on herself and her work right now, as well as focusing on her relationship with God."

The source also said that Lovato is "excited for what this next chapter in 2020 will bring." Although their bond with one another may have once been quite strong, it seems that Lovato is ready to move on. Hopefully, she can concentrate on herself in the year ahead and find a partner worthy of her.
