Apples are a truly versatile food that taste just as good on their own as they do in a dish. If you’re looking for ways to use the fleshy fruit, here are five tasty recipes where apples are the main ingredient.

1. Apple cinnamon bread

This bread recipe will be the new apple of your eye. Begin by adding butter, sugar, eggs, lemon juice and vanilla to a bowl. Then beat those ingredients before combining with flour. Next, dice up an apple, and fold the diced apple into the batter. Finally, add half of the mix to a loaf pan, and follow with a layer of cinnamon streusel. Then repeat with the remaining batter and streusel. Bake and enjoy!

2. Vegan apple pancakes

These tasty vegan pancakes involve a batter made from flour, sugar, baking powder, dairy-free milk, coconut oil, grated apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. After making the pancakes, top them off with caramelized apples made from pan-cooked chopped apples, coconut oil, maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla.

3. Apple and brie flatbread pizza

This fall-inspired flatbread pizza is loaded with texture and flavor. The recipe involves a pizza crust topped with caramelized onions and brie. Once that’s baked and out of the oven, add sliced apples, candied walnuts, arugula and a drizzle of hot honey.

4. Apple cider donuts

Thanks to this recipe, you’ll be able to make this fall treat year-round! First, make the apple cider by boiling a mixture of sliced apples, cinnamon sticks and star anise. Next, combine warm water, yeast and flour. Then cover the mix for half an hour. After letting it sit, add eggs, pumpkin spice, apple cider and butter to the dough before kneading and letting it rise. Roll out the dough, and cut it into donut shapes. Finally, fry the donuts before giving them a quick dip in brown sugar.

5. Apple crumble

This easy recipe is a medley of sweet and hearty combinations. Begin by combining diced apples with lemon juice, maple syrup, water and cinnamon. Make the crumble by mixing oat flour, oats, coconut oil (or olive oil), maple syrup and cinnamon. Layer the crumble on top of the diced apple mixture, then bake. Top off with almond butter for more flavor and garnish.
