‘Degrassi: Showdown’ begins tonight, and HollywoodLife.com has your first look at the new cast — sans uniforms — in action.

It’s a good thing we love Degrassi, because we’re about to get a whole lot more of it! Following in its annual tradition of awesomeness, Teen Nick will air new episodes every Monday through Thursday at 10 p.m. beginning July 16. (Oh, wait, that’s tonight!) HollywoodLife.com has your exclusive first look at the brand-new opening title sequence, which introduces season 12′s key players.

Degrassi switched it up a little this year, incorporating more sound effects into the characters’ usual curricular shenanigans. Get my thoughts on the video below, then watch it for yourself and drop a comment with your own thoughts on the new season:

— Front flips off the front stairs? And parents wonder why their kids keep dying at this school.

— Mo and Marisol (Shanice Banton) are apparently still going strong.

— Jake (Justin Kelly) and Katie (Chloe Rose)? I guess Jenna’s fertility scared him off. Also, they both have dark hair now and it’s freaking me out.

— Snake is still not having it with any of these kids’ shenanigans.

— Jenna (Jessica Tyler) has a new best friend, and they love running in the halls together like little rule-breakers.

— The hockey team at Degrassi is (apparently) a really big deal. Now the whole school cheers for them when they enter a room, whereas it used to be just me cheering for Owen (Daniel Kelly).

— Neither Eli (Munro Chambers) nor Imogen (Cristine Prosperi) appear to be crazy anymore. Eli’s just a director, and Imogen is seen playing the tambourine.

— Is Bianca (Alicia Josipovic) suddenly smart or something? This comes as a surprise to me, and apparently also to KC.

— Clare (Aislinn Paul) remains the school’s HBIC, as she gets the coveted logo on her jacket.
