Defensive lineman Jaden Crumedy latest Mississippi State football player with 2023 decision

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football was stripped of a chance to see what graduate defensive lineman Jaden Crumedy could do in what was expected to be a breakout season.

Crumedy, dealing with an injury suffered in preseason practice, appeared in just the final four games this year. He'll have another chance to prove his potential next season.

Crumedy announced via social media on Wednesday that he'll be returning next year for his final season of eligibility. Crumedy, who redshirted his freshman season in 2018, has a year of eligibility left due to the extra COVID-19 season granted by the NCAA.

The Hattiesburg native recorded 11 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in his shortened stint this season. That came after collecting 20 tackles in 12 games last season.

Crumedy's announcement comes shortly after defensive coordinator Zach Arnett got good news at linebacker. Nathaniel Watson, dealing with the same situation as Crumedy, announced he'll return next season as well.

MSU went 8-4 this season and awaits Sunday's bowl game announcement.
