The Defenders Premiere Date Set at Netflix — Watch Sneaky New Teaser

Marvel’s The Defenders announced its premiere date Tuesday in a stealthy, super way.

In a YouTube video titled “Midland Circle Security Elevator B,” we’re treated to what looks like closed-circuit camera footage of Marvel heroes Luke Cage (played by Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) riding an elevator. Daredevil fans will recognize the name of the company, which played a significant role in Season 2. When Jessica Jones realizes that they’re being watched, she smashes the camera in the corner of the car — at the timestamp 08:18:20:17 — and the brief video ends.

Meanwhile, if you enter the numbers at the top left of the video into your browser, you’ll be directed to a site for the New York Bulletin, aka Karen Page’s place of business in Daredevil. In very small type at the bottom of the page, the site reads, “Watch ‘Marvel’s The Defenders‘ All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18.”

The streaming video service’s miniseries will bring together the leads of Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist to face a threat greater than they’ve ever seen before. Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) also will have a “significant” role in the event.
