Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon Spar on Twitter Over the Presidential Election – and the Barbs Keep on Coming
Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon are locked in a heated Twitter feud this week after Sarandon questioned whether she would vote for Hillary Clinton in a general election matchup against Donald Trump.
"I think a lot of people are like, 'Sorry, I just can't bring myself to vote for [Hillary Clinton],' " the outspoken Bernie Sanders supporter said on MSNBC's All In with Chris Hayes on Monday. "Some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately if he gets in. Things will really explode."
On Tuesday evening, Messing, 47, began to criticize Sarandon, 69, on Twitter.
"Susan Sarandon muses tht Trump prezcy wud b better 4 the country thn Hillary.Wonder if she'd say that if she were poor,gay,Muslim or immgrnt," Messing wrote, before claiming that although she is a Clinton supporter, she would "absolutely" support Sanders over Trump.

Although Sarandon herself took to Twitter soon after the interview aired to clarify that she would never vote for Trump and to explain her lack of faith in Clinton, Messing continued to call out the Mother's Day actress for "not clearly disavowing" Trump.

The barbs continued during the week, with both women retweeting messages that bolster their arguments and criticize the other's point of view.
On Thursday, Sarandon thanked Rosie O'Donnell for supporting her position and tweeted Messing a Huffington Post opinion piece titled "Why Susan Sarandon Is Right About Hillary".
Messing, meanwhile, retweeted several messages that criticized Sarandon, including one that slammed her "sanctimonious principles."
