The island of Saint Marie has boosted its population with two new faces for Death in Paradise's ninth series.

A first announcement arrived on Twitter yesterday (November 6), with Mr Selfridge star Samuel West nabbing the role of Donald McCormack, who'll "arrive on the tropical island when a murder threatens to tear a family apart."

Interestingly, the second new addition will have a close connection to West's character.

"Brotherly love for Elliot Cowan and yesterday's big reveal, Samuel West? These two heavyweights play the McCormack brothers who find themselves under threat from a mysterious masked man!" reads today's Twitter announcement.

Cowan is known for a recent appearance in Peaky Blinders and also has credits on the likes of Krypton and Luther.

Meanwhile, it was previously confirmed that The Royle Family legend Ralph Little had secured the lead role in Death in Paradise's upcoming series, replacing Ardal O'Hanlon.

"It took less than 0.005 seconds to say yes to playing the new DI! How could I not?" the actor said.

"Ardal has been wonderful in the last few series and to follow in his footsteps in a place as idyllic as Guadeloupe was a great honour and a dream come true. It is a joy to play Neville [Parker] and I can't wait for viewers to see him in Paradise this series."

Death in Paradise airs on BBC One. You can also catch up on series 1-8 on Amazon Prime Video.
