“Dear White People” Actress Ashley Blaine Featherson Announces Pregnancy Following IVF Journey

Featherson and her husband Darroll Jenkins are expecting a baby girl in August

Ashley Blaine Featherson is expecting her first child!

On Monday, April 15, the Dear White People actress shared a video chronicling her IVF journey alongside her husband, Darroll Jenkins, on Instagram. In the background, Beyoncé’s “Protector” — a song written in honor of the superstar's children — played.

“Even though we know someday you’re gonna shine on your own, we’ll be your projectors. Born to be your protectors💕✨,” she captioned the post.

The heartfelt video began with Featherson, 36, saying “see you soon, we love you,” before adding: “We hope you look like us, but you’re probably going to look like him,” she joked as she looks at her sports agent husband.

“But I really hope you look like me just a little bit. Just a little bit, that would be amazing.”

The following clips showed the couple beginning acupuncture before moving on to Featherson’s PIO shots — which she revealed she did for 10 weeks — to facilitate the embryo transfer. The Netflix actress appeared emotional as Jenkins supported her through the process.

Later in the video, Featherson shared a photo of her embryo, revealing it is a girl by writing, “She cute 💅,” across the screen.

The video also captured the transfer as it happened, where Featherson clapped as tears ran down her face when the process was over.

“There she is… so tiny!” she wrote alongside an ultrasound photo.

Two weeks later, the couple can be seen answering a call from their doctor telling them they’re “officially pregnant! 🎉,” before she took a pregnancy test to confirm the news.

The rest of the post featured sweet clips of the pair telling loved ones.

“Lots of hugs,” she captioned one moment.

It ended with a photo of her and Jenkins together wearing “IVF mom” and “IVF dad” sweatshirts, and revealing she is due in August 2024.

Featherson and Jenkins got engaged in 2020 and married in 2021.

"Walking Into This New Phase Of Life With You Is A GOD DREAM!" she wrote in an Instagram post at the time of their engagement. "I Know That What Ever Life May Throw Our Way We Will Be Just Fine Because We Have Each Other & God At The Center."

"D, You Are The Love Of My Life. The Thought, Care & LOVE implemented so flawlessly in order for us to have one of the best days of our lives is a memory that will ALWAYS bring me to tears," she continued. "I Thank God For You. Always Have. Always Will. 10 Summers. LOOK AT US NOW."
