Netflix's hit romance series will return in late spring and be split in to two parts.

Netflix has news that would make even Lady Whistledown jealous.

On Tuesday, the streamer announced the long-awaited release date for season 3 of Bridgerton. The season will be divided into two parts with the first dropping on May 16 and the second coming nearly a month later on June 13. Each half will contain 4 episodes, and it promises to be the event of the spring season.

Season 3 will follow the romance of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her longtime friend, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), one complicated by remarks Penelope overheard at a garden party in the season 2 finale. Additionally, the season, helmed by new showrunner Jess Brownell, will dig into the complicated Peneloise friendship as they deal with the fallout of Eloise's (Claudia Jessie) discovery that Penelope is the author of the Lady Whistledown column.

Viewers have been chomping at the bit for a release date for season 3, considering the previous season dropped over a year ago in March 2022. The first season debutted in Dec. 2020 and quickly broke viewing records to become Netflix's most-watched show ever at the time.

Though the third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, follows the romance of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the series surprised fans last year when it was announced that season 3 would instead follow Colin and Penelope, who are the central figures of the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

Many of the details remain under wraps, but Newton previously expressed his excitement about the season to Netflix's website Tudum, saying, "I'm hoping that he has sort of a more sensitive side to him. I love that we are exploring a relationship that so many people have had, where you form a friendship and you get to know each other down to the core. Then it sparks something from there."

At 2022's TUDUM event, Coughlan read Lady Whistledown's opening narration from the first episode of season 3, titled "Out of the Shadows."

"Dearest gentle reader, we've been apart for far too long," Coughlan began, assuming her best Penelope voice (though we must assume Julie Andrews will be returning to read this on screen). "At last, London's smart set has made its return, and so to, has this author. As the season begins, the question on everyone's minds is, of course, which newly minted debutante will shine the brightest? The crop this year proves to be rather dazzling indeed. Unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light."

While season 1 star Phoebe Dynevor will not be returning this year, season 2's main lovers, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley) will indeed be back.
