Deap Vally Announce Breakup, Detail Farewell Tour

The post Deap Vally Announce Breakup, Detail Farewell Tour appeared first on Consequence.

Deap Vally are calling it quits, but before they break up for good, the LA-based duo has announced their final release, SISTRIONIX 2.0, a re-recorded version of their 2013 debut album dropping in Spring 2024 on their own Deap Vally Records. They will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the album by playing it in full on a farewell tour.

As a preview of SISTRIONIX 2.0, the band has released the “Deap Vally’s Version” of “Baby I Call Hell,” which vocalist/guitarist Lindsey Troy described in a statement as one of their “quintessential” songs. “It was the first song we ever wrote as a band, so it’s very meaningful to our story,” Troy revealed. “Re-recording that song was a lot of fun, but also a lot of pressure because we wanted to make sure the recording captured the magic of the song again.” Stream the track below.

Kicking off on November 10th in San Diego, the first leg of Deap Vally’s farewell tour will continue up the West Coast with stops in San Francisco, Vancouver, Seattle, and more. Then, they’ll reconvene in February for a slate of dates in the Midwest and East Coast. L.A. Witch, Death Valley Girls, Sloppy Jane, and Spoon Benders will open on select dates. See the full itinerary below.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning on Friday, September 22nd at 10:00 a.m. local time at Deap Vally’s website. Once tickets are on sale, you can also look for deals at StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

“We’re just going to go to play as many places as we can and say farewell to everyone,” vocalist/drummer Julie Edwards said. “Though the band is playing live for the last time, the door is open to us to collaborate. Now we’re all about re-establishing a workflow and connection around our friendship, after all we’ve shared together along the way.”

Troy also elaborated on their decision to “go out with a bang, not a whimper,” explaining that the current music industry model isn’t “compatible with our current lives.” Edwards added, “We found we just can’t function as a traditional band anymore. It’s time for both of us to explore motherhood and other avenues of our lives properly, rather than squeezing them into our artist’s hustle.”

During their decade-long career, Deap Vally released three albums: SISTRIONIX, 2016’s FEMEJISM, and their 2021 LP, Marriage. They also formed a supergroup with The Flaming Lips called Deap Lips, which dropped their self-titled debut album in March 2020. As for SISTRIONIX 2.0, pre-orders are ongoing.
