Teams have been granted permission to talk to Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Hopkins has been one of the biggest names talked about this offseason. It has previously been reported that Arizona wants a second-round draft pick and another asset in a trade. Breer indicated that age, history, and troubles with the other teams Hopkins has played with has made him a little more of a tougher trade target.

His salary cap hit will be $30.89 million in 2023 and $26.2 million in 2024. That also might make him a bit of a difficult sell.

The Patriots have been involved in Hopkins rumors throughout the course of the offseason. For a while, it looked as though New England may have a shot at landing the wide receiver. However, The Athletic’s Jeff Howe put that rumor to rest last Friday, indicating New England probably would not be interested.

It will be intriguing to see how this plays out and how much New England is involved in any potential negotiations. The team still needs a top wide receiver, and Hopkins would fit the bill.

Although it looks like their interest has waned, things can change quickly in the NFL.
