Dean McDermott Shares Steamy Kiss with Lily Calo at LAX Before Tori Spelling's Neighborhood Hostage Incident

McDermott's PDA-filled outing at the airport occurred just days after the actor was first spotted with his new flame

Dean McDermott appears to be catching flights and feelings!

The 56-year-old actor, who split from wife Tori Spelling earlier this year, was photographed Tuesday kissing Lily Calo at Los Angeles International Airport. The couple was seen smooching at the car as they loaded luggage into the trunk of a van.

The outing comes days after the Due South alum was first snapped with Calo, a senior account executive at Conscious Community Global. They also posed together in a photo posted on her company’s LinkedIn page earlier this month.

His airport kiss also came shortly before Spelling, 50, and her family were forced to evacuate their rental home on Wednesday due to a nearby police standoff after a neighbor allegedly took someone hostage.

In photos published by Page Six, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum could be seen looking visibly distraught as she sprinted to her rental property to find her children — whom she shares with McDermott — as a neighboring man barricaded himself inside his home with a hostage.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that the incident happened at around 9:06 a.m. When the SWAT team were called to respond to the situation, Spelling and her kids were forced to evacuate as officers surrounded the home.

Spelling could be seen watching the situation unfold behind yellow tape alongside neighboring homeowners and taking phone calls while the standoff occurred. Luckily, nobody was harmed and the suspect was taken into custody without causing any damage.

Spelling's rep has not responded to PEOPLE's request for comment.

McDermott first posted about his and Spelling’s decision to split on Instagram in May.

"It's with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own," McDermott wrote in a since-deleted post. "We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness. 🙏”

Though he deleted the post, a source told PEOPLE in June that McDermott was “100 percent serious” about ending his 17-year marriage to the actress.

“[Dean] 100 percent wants to get out of the marriage,” the source said. “He took down the post because Tori didn’t want him to keep it up. But he’s packing his bags and is 100 percent serious about it.”

At the time, McDermott hadn’t moved out from their home he shared with Spelling and their five kids — daughters Stella, 15, and Hattie, 12, and sons Liam, 16, Finn, 11, and Beau, 6 — due to financial reasons; the insider claimed McDermott couldn’t find an apartment he could “afford.”

“He can’t take it anymore. He told her he’s done,” the source added.

But Spelling and her children eventually moved out of the home in May after discovering a mold infection that was resulting in a "continual spiral of sickness" for her family. She later stepped out without her wedding ring in July and told TMZ she felt "blindsided" by McDermott’s decision to end their marriage. "I've always looked better on my own," she added.

While Spelling has not talked at length about what caused the breakup, a source close to the star previously told PEOPLE that Spelling and McDermott had dealt with "ups and downs" over the years, though the split still seemed “really out of the blue."

“If this had happened a year ago, it would’ve been expected because things were terrible between them,” the insider continued. “Sure, they still had their disagreements and didn’t always see eye to eye, but the past six months things had felt good between them.”
