Deadpool 2 producers have reportedly been fined $289,562 (£233,792) following the death of a stuntwoman on set.

Back in August 2017, professional road racer Joi 'SJ' Harris was filming a scene in Vancouver, Canada when she lost control of the motorcycle she was riding and crashed through the plate-glass window of a building close by. She was 32-years-old.

She had been standing-in for Zazie Beetz as Domino, the Marvel Comics' character with extraordinary luck, meaning her costume excluded a helmet. Production was halted for two days.

The charges have been filed against TCF Vancouver Productions LTD by WorkSafeBC, the British Columbia-based insurance company.

According to Deadline, the agency stated on Thursday, May 7: "The primary purpose of an administrative penalty is to motivate the employer receiving the penalty – and other employers – to comply with occupational health and safety requirements and to keep their workplaces safe."

At the time, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds paid tribute to Joi, saying: "We're heartbroken, shocked and devastated... but recognise that nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment.

"My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world."
