‘Deadliest Catch’ Star Sig Hansen Arrested for Alleged Assault on Uber Driver

“Deadliest Catch” star Sig Hansen has been caught up in legal drama.

Hansen, one of the captains on the Discovery Channel reality series, was arrested for assault early Thursday after allegedly kicking an Uber driver’s car and spitting at the driver, KOMO News reports.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. in the Ballard area of Seattle, after the driver picked up a group of passengers celebrating Norwegian Constitution Day. The group’s ride was canceled in the app, and they offered to pay cash, which Uber drivers are unable to accept, for the ride.

The passengers then exited the car. According to the driver, Hansen at one point kicked his car, denting it, and spat at him.

A police report on the incident described Hansen as “intoxicated.” Hansen denied having an altercation when police questioned him at his home. However, he later told officers that his son-in-law offered the driver $100 for the ride, and that he thought the driver was stupid for not accepting it.

Hansen was subsequently booked for investigation of assault and property destruction.
