DDG Says Halle Bailey Pregnancy Was A Happy Accident: “We Weren’t Aiming For A Baby”

DDG made a recent appearance on The Jason Lee Show, where he finally opened up about his private pregnancy with Halle Bailey, the close bond they share, and ultimately why they kept everything under wraps.

Revealing that parenthood was a surprise for both of them, Darryl Dwayne Granberry recalled, “We weren’t aiming for a baby, but it just kinda happened.” The rapper and content creator also expressed that they both took a liking to becoming parents one day, so they were never hesitant to see it through.

“Both of us have the same interest in being parents. And I feel like she always wanted to be a mom,” he told Lee. “We always kind of just give off that energy, and I always wanted a kid. So, from there we just decided to go through with it.”

Speaking to why they decided to keep their sacred pregnancy hush-hush, he added, “I think it was more so, like, people were already giving us negative vibes. So it’s like, why let them know and then let them make her pregnancy stressful?”

Elsewhere in his interview with Lee, DDG beamed as he spoke on fatherhood and watching their son, Halo, grow every day. He also recalled enjoying attending doctors appointments with Bailey, being in the delivery room, and helping pull the baby’s head out of her womb.

Last month, DDG referred to Halle’s mothering as “Wonder Woman” in a freestyle he released upon announcing that they indeed gave birth. He also called out people for being “too in his business” about the entire life event.

“This is one of my biggest accomplishments and I wasn’t able to show it for real for real, but it was for a better cause ’cause people weird,” he said at the time. “People are way too many in my business, our business, at this point in time. So, definitely for the better and it made it a lot easier, bringing him into the world without a bunch of opinions.”

The Pontiac, MI native also admitted that it was harder for him to keep the news private versus Halle.

“It was harder for me than it was for her for sure because she don’t really be on social media like I do. Social media is what I do. It’s why I’m here today,” he said.
