Daytime Emmys Set 2024 Ceremony Date, Moving Back to June on CBS
The Daytime Emmys are heading back to June. As announced Tuesday morning by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and CBS, The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will air live on Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m. ET (delayed on the west coast).
Last year, the Daytime Emmys wound up being pushed six months to December, due to the Hollywood strikes. The 2024 telecast is the second year in a two-year telecast deal that NATAS had set with CBS, which has broadcast the Daytime Emmys 18 times, more than any other network.

The 2024 ceremony will once again take place at the Westin Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Per NATAS and CBS, this year’s lifetime achievement honoree and host will be announced at a later time. NATAS also still needs to announce dates for its Daytime Creative Arts Emmys, as well as when nominations will be announced.
“We eagerly anticipate our return in June as we once again partner with CBS to recognize the exceptional and talented individuals who make daytime television great,” Adam Sharp, president and CEO of NATAS, said in a statement. He added, “We’re thrilled to kick off our second half-century of the Daytime Emmys.”
The eligibility period for the 2024 Daytime Emmys is Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023. Among this year’s rule changes, the Daytime Emmys will no longer include a category devoted to younger performers in a daytime drama. Effective this year, for the 51st Annual Daytime Awards, younger performers will be required to enter lead, supporting or guest categories.
Also eliminated is the category for outstanding promotional announcement. Meanwhile, the categories devoted to outstanding writing for a daytime non-fiction series and outstanding writing for daytime non-fiction special have been merged into a new category: Outstanding writing for a daytime non-fiction program.
And also, the daytime program host category has been split into two categories: “daytime personality–daily,” and “daytime personality—non-daily.”
At the 2023 event, which awarded programs that aired through the 2022 calendar year, “General Hospital” dominated the competition, winning seven awards — including daytime drama, as well as both supporting actor and supporting actress, younger actor, guest actor, directing and casting. “The Bold and the Beautiful” won the two lead actor and actress prizes, however.
“The Kelly Clarkson Show,” meanwhile, pulled off six wins, including outstanding daytime talk series, outstanding daytime talk series host and directing team. Netflix’s “Island of the Sea Wolves” was next with four, followed by “The Bold and the Beautiful,” with three.
The Daytime Emmy Awards first launched in 1974. Recently, NATAS and the west coast-based Television Academy have agreed to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards by content genre — for example, moving all game to the primetime competition and all kids programming to the new Children & Family Emmys.
Associated Television International will once again produce the Daytime Emmys with NATAS. ATI also produced Daytime Emmy Award ceremonies on The CW in 2009 and on CBS in 2010, 2011, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie is executive producer from ATI.
Besides CBS, the Daytime Emmys are also available to stream on Paramount+, for premium subscribers who can access their local CBS affiliate on the service as well as on-demand. Essential-tier subscribers will have access on-demand the day after the special airs.
