Daytime Emmys Gets December Airdate After Strike Postponement

The 50th annual Daytime Emmys officially have a new airdate.

The awards show was originally set to air June 16 but was postponed due to the writers strike at the time. The Daytime Emmys will now air Dec. 15 on CBS and stream on Paramount+, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced Friday.

“We are pleased to set this new date with CBS for the Daytime Emmys to celebrate our golden anniversary,” said NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp in a statement. “We know the loyal fans of daytime television have waited patiently to properly honor and recognize all of the deserving nominees, and we look forward to the celebration we have all been waiting for.”

This year marks the 17th time that CBS has broadcast the awards show that recognizes outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts in categories including daytime drama, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting and legal/courtroom programs. Entertainment Tonight‘s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner will host the ceremony.

“CBS has a storied history in daytime, and we are delighted to continue having the Daytime Emmys on the Network for the next two years,” said Mackenzie Mitchell, vice president, specials, music and live events, CBS. “We look forward to celebrating the show’s 50th anniversary and highlighting the best that daytime has to offer.”

The 2023 Daytime Emmys will recognize some of television’s longest-running shows, including General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray. General Hospital received the most nominations of any program with 19, while The Kelly Clarkson Show led the nominations for its genre with 11.

This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards were originally set to air Sept. 18 but were pushed to Jan. 15, following the writers and actors strikes.
