'Days of Our Lives' stars pose for the April 2024 digital issue of Playgirl.

Your favorite soap stars just landed a new magazine cover — and it's a total flex.

For Playgirl’s April digital issue, Days of Our Lives stars stripped down to their underwear, solidifying their reputations at soap hunks. The cover features Robert Scott Wilson, 36, Eric Martsolf, 52, Bryan Datillo, 52, Christopher Sean, 38, and Paul Telfer, 44.

The article says that this group of actors “have helped solidify the show’s reputation as one of America’s most beloved and critically acclaimed daytime drama series, all the while carrying on the legacy of both Salem and the “soap hunk,” with ample amounts of soul and very few t-shirts.”

In addition to posing in nothing but shorts, high socks and sneakers, the stars of the long running soap opera, which is currently in its 59th season, also discuss what the term “soap hunk” means to them.

“When I think soap hunk I think sexy. Sexy body, sexy smile. Soap hunks are for the thirsty fans,” Sean tells the outlet.

Datillo points out the “stigma” that comes along with the title.

“Soap hunk should be a compliment to a daytime star, although there is a stigma too,” he says. “Sometimes, it means [you’re] only good for shirts off-only scenes and not too bright.”

Telfer says that “the buck-toothed, lisping, overweight, perennial new kid at school with a flat top and Scottish accent in England would be very amused to know he grew up to be this ‘sex object’!

“Seriously, I very much embrace it,” he adds.

Despite all the fun they're having on the cover of Playgirl, the soap stars also admit that there are negatives to being considered "eye candy."

"I hate the phrase eye-candy," Datillo says. "It’s why I stopped working out years ago. Now I just stay in shape for myself and my health. Not to be eye-candy."

Martsolf adds that for soap acting, a solid skill set is just as important as maintaining a certain physique.

"One can’t control what the public thinks or how they define you," he says. "The good daytime actors have just as much depth on the inside as displayed on the outside. Staying power in the soap world requires understanding of character and an incredible work ethic. It’s not for everyone."

Wilson seconds the sentiment, saying, "I mean abs are cool, but being a good actor was always cooler to me… I’m still just a kid from Massachusetts with work ethic and passion. I just happen to do my sit-ups too."

Days of our Lives is currently in its 59th season and streaming exclusively on Peacock.
