The countdown to summer has begun!

Daylight saving time comes to an end on Nov. 5, beginning the often-dreaded time of year that sees shorter, brighter days and longer, darker nights as a result of pushing the clocks back one hour.

The bi-annual clock-changing tradition starts at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November in the United States. In contrast to darkened autumn and fall, spring and summer get extra hours of sunshine instead.

Daylight saving time dates back to 1908 — but despite its century-long history, the practice has been heavily debated by Congress in recent years. In fact, a bipartisan bill — known as the Sunshine Protection Act — was proposed, which would enable states to "spring forward" one final time and never "fall back" again.

The Senate passed the bill in March 2022, but it died in the House amid safety and health concerns. However, 19 states have enacted legislation or passed resolutions in the past five years to provide for year-round daylight saving time.

Fortunately, there is a bright side at this time! In the zodiac space, celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomastells PEOPLE that "this can be a time of great transformation and rebirth" as we are amid Scorpio season.

While the season can also "unleash the more challenging aspects" associated with Scorpio, Thomas — who's known for his cosmic guidance for celebrities, business executives and prominent influencers — says to "face your shadow self authentically," therefore channeling this negative energy in a positive way.

To find out what the end of daylight savings time could mean for you in astrology, per Thomas' suggestions, read on!

According to Western astrology, all zodiac signs are attributed to the four axes of the seasons. A sign is attributed a season based on when the sun moves through that zodiac sign.

The Spring Equinox marks the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere — and astrologically, the start of Aries season. The Summer Solstice marks the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere — and astrologically, the start of Cancer season.

The Autumn Equinox marks the start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere — and astrologically, the start of Libra season. The Winter Solstice marks the start of the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere — and astrologically, the start of Capricorn season.

Scorpio season starts on Oct. 23 and ends on Nov. 22, says Thomas. While he notes that Scorpio season "always" falls in autumn, he says "the sun may move in slightly early or stay slightly later" in some years. However, he says it would only cause a "very minimal shift in time."

Scorpio Zodiac Sign

There are twelve signs on the zodiac wheel in Western astrology. Scorpio — ruled by the planets Mars and Pluto — is the eighth sign, preceded by Libra and is followed by Sagittarius.

Scorpio is a Fixed Water sign, which Thomas says means "they are in the Fixed modality" and "embody their season to its core." As a Water sign, Scorpios "have very deep emotions, perception and intuition."

Thomas says they "live in their feelings and inner worlds." However, due to Scorpio’s planetary rulers of Mars and Pluto (who are fire energies), this "grants Scorpio a more boiling frequency like hot, scalding water."

Scorpio "rules the hidden and 'shadow world,'" Thomas reveals, noting that it "exists deep within each of us." He says this can be related to "intimacy, deep relations, trust, vulnerability, sexuality and trauma."

Thomas says Scorpio can also be "connected to the esoteric," whether it be "the arts of the occult, hidden knowledge or ancient wisdom." Scorpio can also "be aligned with death and rebirth," he adds.

People who align with Scorpio "are passionate, loyal, devoted and ambitious," says Thomas.

"They are tremendously protective of who and what they love and will fight the entire world to defend that which is sacred to them," he continues. "They can be gifted healers and mystics, as well as incredibly insightful individuals on a psychological level."

Thomas says Scorpios can be "all or nothing" people, as the sign is "the most wicked, vengeful, deceitful and cunning zodiac sign of all." When crossed, he says "they tend to be highly manipulative, cruel and strategic."

"If they are embracing their darkest side, they can be horrific enemies who will stop at nothing until they destroy others and themselves," Thomas continues. "Because of this, Scorpios can crave pain, destruction, and drama if they have not found an enlightened perception of reality and can have great difficulty sustaining any healthy relationship whatsoever."

Scorpios are most compatible with Water signs, like Cancer and Pisces. Plus, they are compatible with Earth signs, like Virgo and Capricorn, as well.

Although your birth chart might not make you a Scorpio, Thomas says anyone can "become consumed by the energies of this zodiac sign" during this season. This is because "the sun is our greatest luminary," he adds.

In addition, Thomas says the sun "is tied to our life force, focus and collective vibration." Therefore, we can "dive into the depths of our emotions, souls, desires, impulses and feelings," both positively and negatively, he says.

Positively, Thomas says this can be a time of "great transformation and rebirth as we shed layers that are merely haunting us and holding us down." Negatively, he says it can "trigger power struggles, jealousy, conflicts and darker activity."

The key to channeling this sign's energy in a positive way? "Face your shadow self authentically and then transmute that vibration so that you are not chained to the more base impulses," says Thomas — and instead, move "towards your greatest self."
