'Day with the Arts' to feature music, dance, poetry May 18 at Scarboro Center

Music, dance, poetry, and community spirit are on tap as the Oak Ridge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presents “A Day with the Arts,” from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 18 at the Scarboro Community Center, 148 Carver Ave.

The event, a collaboration with the center and the city of Oak Ridge, will feature performances by artists while supporting a worthy cause, a news release said.

The lineup includes rhythmic beats and captivating moves by local artists and musicians with featured soulful melodies by Brian Clay. Additionally, poetry enthusiasts can look forward to a recital by Oak Ridge poet laureate Rose Weaver, the release said.

In the spirit of giving back, attendees are encouraged to bring two canned goods per person to donate to the Roane State Community College Food Bank. Additionally, donations will go to support members of the community in need, ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious meals.

The event will also include opportunities for attendees to learn more about Scarboro Community Center's programs and initiatives, as well as ways to get involved and support the center's mission.
