David Ortiz Gets Outpouring of Love After Posting First Photo Since Shooting

Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz has had his fair share of life-changing moments recently, but this time he was grateful for the event.

Big Papi posted the first photo of himself, since the June shooting that almost took his life, while dropping his daughter off at college.

Ortiz was seen standing besides 18-year-old Alex, and flashed a smile while wearing an all-black outfit.

"A life experience take place on us dropping off one of my kids at college," he wrote.

The MLB star continued, "good luck with everything and remember 'to be great you have to bring the best out of you everyday' lov [sic] you....mom & dad!!!"

Ortiz was immediately showered with love from colleagues and fans, who were so happy to see the star looking so well.

Erin Andrews wrote, "Love you Papi!! Can’t wait to give you a hug!!"

Fans also chimed in with messages of love, including one who wrote, "it’s good to see you back and better than ever big papi."

Ortiz was shot in the back while sitting at a restaurant with in Santa Domingo while in the Dominican Republic.

14 people have since been arrested for the shooting, which was apparently targeted at the friend sitting with Ortiz.

The former MLB slugger spent weeks at a hospital in Boston after being flown out of the Dominican Republic, and he's undergone three life-saving surgeries.

In the immediate aftermath from the shooting, Ortiz was rushed into surgery that involved the removal of part of his intestines and colon, as well as his gallbladder. He also reportedly suffered liver damage.
