David Lynch pays tribute to Harry Dean Stanton: ‘There went a great one’
David Lynch is paying tribute to his longtime collaborator and friend Harry Dean Stanton, after the Twin Peaks actor passed away at age 91.
Lynch shared a statement on Twitter, writing: “The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us. There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. And with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) — and a great human being — so great to be around him!!! You are really going to be missed Harry Dean!!! Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!”

Stanton most recently starred in the revival of Twin Peaks, which concluded earlier this month. Although he didn’t appear in the original TV run of Twin Peaks, he made his debut as trailer park manager Carl Rodd in Lynch’s 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me before returning to reprise his role in the revival.
He also appeared in three other Lynch-directed films — 1990’s Wild at Heart, 1999’s The Straight Story, and 2006’s Inland Empire — and Lynch also has a role as an actor in Stanton’s final film, the John Caroll Lynch-directed Lucky (in theaters Sept. 29).
