David Letterman Slams Donald Trump: ‘He’s Despicable’

This is the retired David Letterman we’ve all been waiting for. In a new preview clip from the Dateline NBC special On Assignment, the former Late Show host talked with Tom Brokaw about the presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump. “Well, I understand that he’s repugnant to people,” said Letterman. “But you tell me: The men putting together the Constitution, witnessing this election, wouldn’t they have just said, ‘Well, that’s part of the way we set it up. Good luck.’”

Letterman still has no problem speaking his mind, even though he’s off late night, which was apparent in another clip, where he said he couldn’t care less about late-night television and thinks that his job should’ve gone to a woman. And while he admitted that Trump’s candidacy is part of the democratic process, that doesn’t suddenly make him a good guy. As Letterman put it “There’s nothing illegal going on, it’s just, he’s despicable.”
