So you're going to an evening screening of David Cronenberg's just-released Crimes of the Future. Here's the problem: By the time the film's finished, it may well be too late to eat, but, given that the movie represents a return to the body horror of the Canadian auteur's early work, you're worried about consuming anything beforehand that might cause gastric issues as gruesome sights assault your eyeballs.

What to do?

We asked Cronenberg and the film's stars Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux, and Scott Speedman to recommend the ideal meal to eat before checking out the movie. Read their suggestions below.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What meal should people eat before going to see this film?

VIGGO MORTENSEN: Hmm. Meal before? Probably a light meal, I think.

LÉA SEYDOUX: Like raw. Something raw.

MORTENSEN: Yeah. Oysters. [Laughs]

SEYDOUX: But no fries. No carbs.

SCOTT SPEEDMAN: I could eat whatever before this movie. I think this movie is a really enjoyable, sweet movie. A lot of the headlines [mention] this body horror thing that we keep talking about. But I don't think people will be that thrown off by anything particularly in the movie. I think it's an evocative, fascinating, hypnotic movie, rather than being a "body horror" movie. That throws me off because that's never the movie that I thought we were making. Hypnotic is the one word that I would use to describe this movie. I think you can eat whatever.

DAVID CRONENBERG: I think you should eat a mille-feuille pastry. Because it has a lot of layers, and it's very sweet and surprising, so it's just like the movie basically.

SPEEDMAN: [Laughs] That's a much better answer!
