David Bowie Gave Approval for His New 'Twin Peaks' Cameo

The show’s executive producer Sabrina Sutherland confirmed in her Reddit AMA today

In the new “Twin Peaks” revival, David Bowie made multiplecameos as FBI agent Phillip Jeffries via flashbacks to the 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. During a Reddit AMA this evening, the show’s executive producer Sabrina Sutherland confirmed that Bowie gave his approval to appear on the new season, as Vulture points out. In response to a question asking if he knew “how his character was going to be tackled,” Sutherland answered: “Bowie did give us permission to use his clips in this season.” In an interview last year, actor Harry Goaz revealed that Bowie was set to reprise his role for the new series prior to his death in January 2016.

Besides Bowie, “Twin Peaks: the Return” also featured guest appearances from Julee Cruise, Eddie Vedder, the Chromatics, Moby, Sky Ferreira, Hudson Mohawke, Au Revoir Simone, Nine Inch Nails, Dirty Beaches’ Alex Zhang Hungtai, and Sharon Van Etten.

Recently, two new soundtrack albums for “Twin Peaks” have been released. A compilation album from sound and music supervisor David Hurley called Anthology Resource Vol. 1: △△ arrived last month.
