David Ayer-Helmed Thriller ‘Bright’ Adds Andrea Navedo; Austin Hébert Cast In ‘Burden’

Jane The Virgin‘s Andrea Navedo has been cast in Netflix’s Bright, the fantastical cop thriller feature written by Max Landis, for which the streaming giant acquired for $90M. David Ayer is attached to direct with Will Smith, Joel Egerton, and Noomi Rapace starring. Navedo will play Captain Perez in the film, which is set to begin shooting this month. Eric Newman, Ayer, Landis and Bryan Unkeless are producing. Navedo currently stars as Xiomara “Xo” Villanueva in the Golden Globe nominated Jane The Virgin which is in its third season. Her past film credits include Remember Me, Once Upon A Time In Queens, and Superfast! Navedo is repped by APA, Levity Entertainment Group, and Jeff Endlich at Barnes, Morris

Austin Hébert has joined Garrett Hedlund, Forest Whitaker, Tom Wilkinson, Tess Harper, Usher Raymond IV and Andrea Riseborough, in Andrew Heckler’s inspired by true events film Burden. The pic follows Mike Burden (Hedlund), and orphan raised within the Klu Klux Klan, but escapes to seek a new life. He finds protection from a benevolent Reverend (Whitaker) and his community. Hébert will play Clint Howard, the son of the Klu Klux Klan leader John Howard (Wilkinson). The Firms’ Robbie Brenner is producing Next up, Hébert can be seen in the soon-to-be-released sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and has a role in the Kathryn Bigelow’s Untitled Detroit Project. He is repped by Abrams Artists Agency.
