David Arquette is a real romantic.

The Scream actor began dating journalist and producer Christina McLarty Arquette in 2011. The pair briefly split in 2012, but they soon got back together and married in 2015.

After their wedding, David told PEOPLE that the special day couldn't have gone any better. “It was such a wonderful memorable night,” David said. “All of our families and friends came together and just had a great time ... The best part is just saying ‘I do’ and committing and kissing my new bride.”

David began acting in high school and was later cast in shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Parenthood. His major breakout role was in 1996's Scream, which, according to Entertainment Weekly at the time, quickly set the record for the highest-grossing teen slasher movie.

Now, David is a little more focused on his family. In 2014, David and Christina welcomed their first child together, Charlie West, and three years later, another son, Augustus Alexis, joined the family. David also shares daughter Coco with his ex-wife Courteney Cox.

During Christina's pregnancy with Augustus, David shared his admiration for his wife. "Being pregnant and watching a little rascal that's firmly in his terrible twos is pretty difficult," he told PEOPLE in December 2017. "She [sic] a trouper, she's doing great. She's my hero."

She's from Arkansas

According to a 2022 profile in The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Christina was raised in Hope, Arkansas, by her parents, Shelley and Bud, before moving to Little Rock, where she lived from first through sixth grade.

"There was something really magical about the summers in Hope and the fireflies and the sound of the bullfrogs and the stickiness of it that I just have such memories of," Christina told the outlet.

Her family moved several times before settling in Colorado, where Christina pursued her passion for competitive figure skating and graduated from high school. "I became really serious about skating and dedicated my life to it," she said.

However, Christina eventually quit skating at 15. She added, "It was a blessing that I did because I went on to have a life and go to the college I always wanted to go to."

She is a producer and former journalist

Christina studied journalism at New York University. In college, she interned for Sen. Hillary Clinton — her uncle, Mack McLarty, was former President Bill Clinton's chief of staff — and for MTV's news and documentary division. Her first full-time jobs were in local broadcasting in Arkansas and Texas.

Christina was also a reporter for Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. In her Instagram bio, she describes herself as an "Emmy award winning journalist > Producer." As a producer, she's racked up several documentary credits, including You Cannot Kill David Arquette, They Call Me Magic and God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines.

David and Christina met when she interviewed him for Entertainment Tonight, according to the Democrat-Gazette. The pair met again at a boat party in summer 2011 — though it was not love at first sight.

Christina recalled "awkwardly talking" to him on the boat, but they went on a proper date a month after that, per the Democrat-Gazette. A couple of months later, David confirmed they were dating in an interview with Howard Stern. "She's adorable," he said. "I'm not one to run around with different girls. I like someone that makes me feel good and that I can make feel good."

When Christina had to move to New York for work in 2012, she and David briefly split. "Sadly I'm single again," David tweeted, according to E! News. "A long distance relationship proved to be too difficult."

The actor-producer duo eventually reunited and got engaged in 2014.

They have two children together

In November 2013, David and Christina confirmed to PEOPLE that they were expecting their first child together. David is also father to his daughter Coco Riley Arquette with his ex-wife Courteney Cox, whom he was married to from 1999 to 2012.

In 2014, David said he was ready to be a dad again after his split from Cox. "I've done it once so there's not that fear that a first-time parent has because you just don't know what to expect," David told PEOPLE. "You have to have a lot of faith that you will be able to keep them safe and not mess them up too much."

Christina gave birth to a baby boy, Charlie West Arquette, on April 28, 2014, in Los Angeles. "Mom, dad and baby are doing well," David's rep told PEOPLE. "They appreciate all of your well wishes and thank you for respecting their privacy at this time." The Democrat-Gazette reported that Charlie was named after David's grandfather, Clifford Charles Arquette.

In October 2016, David and Christina announced that they were expecting another baby boy. David posted a video on Instagram of his son Charlie holding a sonogram. "So incredibly blessed and honored that my wife @christinaarquette is pregnant with a baby boy!" he wrote. "Thank you Christina and humbled gratitude to G-D for this tremendous gift! Charlie and Coco are so excited and I am over the moon!!!"

On March 8, 2017, the couple welcomed Augustus "Gus" Alexis Arquette. David shared a funny close-up photo of the newborn on Instagram. "His first thoughts were 'Whatchu Lookin' At?' " he wrote under the photo. Gus takes his middle name from David's sister, Alexis Arquette, who died in September 2016.

A few months after Gus joined the family, Christina told PEOPLE that David's prior knowledge on fatherhood came in handy as they expanded their blended family. “The great thing about David is that he was a dad before I was ever a mom, so he really gave me a lot of good advice along the way,” Christina said. “He does all these great adventures with Charlie and Coco.”

David proposed to Christina in 2014, just two months after the birth of their first son. "He wanted his family to be with him when he did it," a source told PEOPLE of the Malibu, California engagement. "They are going to vacation in Aspen to celebrate."

The couple got married in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles on April 12, 2015. Attendees included the pair's son Charlie, their two basset hounds and David's daughter Coco.

David calls her "incredible"

Speaking to The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in 2022, David was quick to compliment Christina.

"The best thing about her is she has just got the sweetest heart. She's incredibly funny. That's one of my favorite qualities about her," he said. "She's an incredible mother, an incredible producer. She is incredibly smart. Her skill set and what she learned as a reporter fits in so perfectly as a producer and a businesswoman. I am amazed by her. She's beautiful."

In 2023, David shared a photo of Christina with their sons on Mother's Day. "Happy Mother’s Day @christinaarquette," he wrote. Thank you for all your love, laughter and patience you show us. We love you!!!"
