David Arquette has opened up about wanting to apologize to his 16-year-old daughter Coco, whom he shares with ex-wife Courteney Cox.

In a recent Q&A with The Guardian, the actor was asked "To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why?"

"My daughter, Coco, because divorce is so difficult," Arquette, 49, replied.

Arquette and Cox, 56, met on the set of the 1996 original Scream and wed in 1999, later splitting 2010 and finalizing their divorce three years later.

In an August interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Arquette discussed the current status of his co-parenting relationship with Cox, who recently signed on to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in the upcoming Scream sequel, opposite Arquette's Dewey Riley.

"We're co-parents to our daughter who's 16 so we have a really great relationship," Arquette told the outlet. "We're friends, and we've communicated a lot because of Coco."

However, he admitted it hasn't always been easy. "Our daughter's really great. There's difficult parts, especially through the teenage years. There's a lot of emotions and feelings," he shared.

"We've just had – not an easy time with it, we've just been really open and supportive of each other. We never went head-to-head, [or] battled each other, through the process of divorce and through the process of raising our kid," he added. "So it's made for a friendship and relationship that is out of respect."

Cox shared a throwback video on Instagram of a young Coco goofing around while ice skating in a pink dress. "Happy sweet 16th cocolo. You're my little quirk of the universe. I love you ♥️♥️♥️," the Friends star wrote.

Arquette also marked his daughter's milestone birthday in his own Instagram post, sharing photos of Coco with his wife, Christina McLarty, and their sons, Augustus Alexis, 3, and Charlie West, 6. "Happy Sweet Sixteen to my beautiful daughter @cocoarquette_ I love you more than life itself! I'm so proud of the woman you've become," he wrote.
