Dave and James Franco's Mom Made Barbie Versions of Her Famous Sons (and Their Partners): 'So Spot On!'

Betsy Franco turned her family into Barbie and Ken dolls

Betsy Franco, mother of James, Tom and Dave Franco, turned her sons and their partners into Barbie dolls!

The family matriarch shared an Instagram video on Wednesday, showing a collection of Barbies and Kens.

“Happy holidays from us, Francos," the mother of three wrote, “Wishing you a lovely 2024 filled with those small moments that are so precious.”

When Betsy posted the video on X (formerly known as Twitter), she added a post script. "I customized made these," she wrote.

Alison Brie, a member of the family since marrying Dave in 2017, commented on the post: “So spot on!! 🏋🏻‍♀️”

The doll for youngest brother Dave, 38, can be seen in a floral shirt, cap and sunglasses, with miniature kittens lounging on his shoulder and shoe. Brie's sporty doll wore a backwards cap and "GRL PWR" shirt, hoisting pink free weights.

“Obsessed with Dave & me as Barbie & Ken dolls,” Brie, who turns 41 on Friday, wrote on her Instagram Story. “Thank you @franco.betsy !! Perfect gift!”

James, 45, also reposted the video on his Instagram Story.

Iris Torres, wife of middle Franco brother Tom, did the same. “Our Barbie Xmas,” she captioned the Instagram Story. “Can you guess who is who?”

Tom, 43, is a mixed-media artist who described himself as “the chill, calm one” of the family in a 2017 interview with W Magazine. 

Betsy is an author and screenwriter whose most recent work is the 2022 children’s book Counting in Dog Years and Other Sassy Math Poems. She and late husband Douglas raised their sons in Palo Alto, California.

This is not the first time Betsy has provided glimpses of her family’s festive life together. In November, Betsy posted to both X and Instagram a family photo of the Francos gathered at a table for Thanksgiving.

Dave and Brie met in 2011 and have worked together on several films including February rom-com Somebody I Used to Know, which Dave directed and the pair co-wrote. In July, they were among the SAG-AFTRA actors walking picket lines in Los Angeles.

Dave will next star in the Kristen Stewart movie Love Lies Bleeding. Among James’ upcoming screen projects is Alina of Cuba: La Hija Rebelde, a film in which he’ll play Cuban president Fidel Castro.
